Basic Functions

– all clear; clears the calculator and resets any functions

– clear entry; erases the last number or operation entered

– addition; performs addition

– minus; performs subtraction; Note: there is DIFFERENT key to make a positive number into a negative number, perhaps marked (-) or NEG known as "negation"

- multiply; performs multiplication

– divide; performs division

- equals; displays the result of an arithmetic operation

- pi key; this button displays the value for pi

– y raised to the power x

- square root

- "exponentiate this," raise e to the power x

- natural logarithm, take the log of

– sine function

- inverse sine function, arcsine, or "the angle whose sine is"

– cosine function

- inverse cosine function, arccosine, or "the angle whose cosine is"

- tangent function

- inverse tangent function, arctangent, or "the angle whose tangent is"

- parentheses, "do this first"

- memory plus, adds the number displayed to the contents of memory

– memory input; enters the current number displayed into memory

– memory recall; puts the contents of the memory onto the display

– exponent; enters a number in exponential form
